While my wife was asleep in the delivery room and I was up, way too excited/freaked-out to sleep, I spent a few hours creating a couple of character sheets to take my mind off of the impending chaos of labor. The characters and the intended setting are based off a pretty sweet little graphic novel called NYC2123. It’s kind of a gritty cyberpunk themed story about a “nano-mob”, basically a group of skilled criminals for hire. Luckily, the source material is Creative Commons! Check out the inspiration at

The characters in the sheets below are different from the ones in the comic, but I tried to give them similar flavor. The art of NYC2123 reminded me of the art in Apocalypse World, so I decided to try my hand at a simple rules system that felt a little like AW. I’m considering whether or not I should create a scenario to go along with the characters, Lady Blackbird style! Here are the pregenerated characters and the supplimentary rules sheet:

Have you toyed around any more with this? I was kind of interested to see if you had a chance to run it yet, and how it worked out.

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to actually playtest these rules. I did a kind of solo adventure for myself using these rules but with a pseudo-fantasy story-line/setting and I think they should work well. Hard to find the kinks by yourself though. Thinking about a quick play by post or something to get some kind of playtesting going.
